We had the opportunity to go to the world’s longest yard sale (also known as the 127 yard sale) this year. It was an exciting experience! We started near Mentone and only made it to Signal Mountain. My parents ended up going back another day!
We found so many fun things. My boys, Jax and Brady, just split into their own bedrooms. Jax is all about sports, and to my surprise, decided he wanted to do VINTAGE sports items in his room. Brady was having a hard time coming up with a theme, so I turned to Pinterest for some inspiration. As we scrolled through pictures, he found an old car themed room and loved it. He is set on having the back of a truck for his bed frame! I don’t know if I can pull that off, but we found some other great stuff.
My mission was to find things for their rooms, and I feel like I was very successful. Jax’s middle name is Varitek after the former Red Sox catcher, Jason Varitek. His number for sports is 33 when he can get it, since that is his namesake’s number. I found 2 metal number threes from a football scoreboard for him to hang in his room. I think that was my favorite find! He also got a free metal Alabama sign, because my dad was wearing an Alabama shirt. Hey, we’ll take it! Roll Tide 🙂 At a previous yard sale, Jax found a metal vintage baseball player that hangs on the wall, and I found some more that match. He also talked my mom into giving him one of her bowling pins.
Brady really made out. He got a “yield” and “no parking” sign, a Union 76 5-gallon bucket, 2 hub caps (Corvair and Rambler), a Quaker State motor oil can, and a Camaro mirror. On my parents second trip, they got him a piece from the front of a Chevrolet. No old truck, though, to make his bed!
The boys had a blast getting into the back of Grampie’s truck to see what we brought home! I love that they love it ♥
We seem to have started a collection of phones, so you can see we added to it. I have also been looking for lanterns to hang on my back patio. I got lucky with this trip and found a blue one in my price range. My mom collects pie tins, licence plates, and rulers, and I think this is the most she’s ever found of the pie tins. I’ve been lining our front patio with insulators, and my mom is putting them in front of her bathroom window. Although, both of those spaces are now full, so these might appear in our shop.
I know I’ve left some things out, but you can see in the picture that we definitely found some great stuff! Let me know if you were able to go to any of the World’s Longest Yard Sale and tell us about your experience!
